No-trust vote Sonia Gandhi’s attempt at taking care of son, son-in-law, says Nishikant Dubey | India News

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Tuesday said that the ongoing debate on the no-confidence motion against the government in Lok Sabha is Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s attempt to set up her son and take care of her son-in-law.

Sonia is following the “traditional Indian woman’s way” of “bete ko set karna hai, damaad ko bhent karna hai”, alleged Dubey, speaking for the government during the debate.

“The PM [Narendra Modi] says that this is not a no-trust-vote, it is a trust in Opposition vote bank. They want to see who supports them,” he added.

Referring to Rahul’s contentious ‘not Savarkar’ remark made months earlier, Dubey said that the Wayanad MP could never reach Savarkar’s stature. Dubey was referring to Rahul’s statement in his first press conference after being disqualified from Lok Sabha in which he had refused to apologise for his “how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname” remark, saying, “My name is not Savarkar, it is Gandhi and Gandhi never offers apology”.

Speaking on Rahul’s reinstatement as MP following the Supreme Court order staying his conviction in the Modi-surname defamation case, Dubey reminded the House that the apex court has not yet given judgment in the matter — only a stay order.

Dubey is the first member of the ruling BJP to speak on the no-confidence motion that was moved by the opposition parties of I.N.D.I.A bloc and accepted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The House will spend 12 hours discussing the motion, reported the news agency ANI, of which seven hours will be allocated to BJP and around one hour 15 minutes to the Congress party. Other parties like YSRCP, Shiv Sena, JDU, BJD, BSP, BRS and LJP have been given a total of 2 hours, divided in accordance to the number of party’s MPs in the House, with independent MPs and remaining parties being alloted 1 hour 10 minutes.
