A 22-year-old IT engineer, who went missing from Pune over a week ago, was found murdered in Pune’s Khed taluka on August 5, said police.
The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Nandlal Patil. His body was found in a decomposed state in bushes at Sandbhorwadi village in Khed of Pune district. His two-wheeler was recovered from Holewadi village in Khed.
An FIR of murder was lodged in the case at the Khed police station of Pune rural police on Monday.
Police have launched a probe to identify the killers and the motive behind the murder.
Police said Patil worked for a private corporate firm in Hinjewadi, but resigned recently.

Inspector at Khed police station Rajkumar Kendre Kumar was a native of Shirdi in Ahmednagar district. He got a job at an IT company in Hinjewadi a few months ago and was residing in the same area.
After he went missing, his family members lodged a missing report at the Hinjewadi police station on July 29.
“A post-mortem conducted on August 6 revealed two stab injuries on Patil’s body, confirming that he was murdered. We have registered an FIR and investigation is underway,” said the inspector.
