Led by Bhupinder Hooda, Udai Bhan, Haryana Congress leaders headed for Nuh | Political Pulse News

A delegation of Haryana Congress leaders, led by its state chief Udai Bhan and CLP leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, will visit the violence-affected areas of Nuh on Tuesday. It is, however, not yet clear if the district administration will allow them to visit the areas.

The Congress announced its decision moments after party president Mallikarjun Kharge had chaired a meeting of Haryana Congress leaders in New Delhi. Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meeting that was attended by Bhan, Hooda and other senior Congress leaders, including Randeep Singh Surjewala, Kiran Choudhry and several present and former MLAs of Haryana.

“The purpose of this visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area and find out the truth. The Congress has raised the demand for a judicial inquiry into the Nuh violence under the supervision of a High Court judge. If the BJP-JJP government had taken proper steps in time and seriously considered the sensitivity of the situation, this violence would not have happened,” said ex-CM Hooda.

Lashing out at the BJP-JJP government, he said, “This government has proved to be a complete failure in fulfilling its responsibilities. BJP leader and local MP Rao Inderjit has himself blamed the government and the administration for its failure in the incident. In such a situation, judicial inquiry is necessary to ensure that the guilty are not spared, and no innocent person has to face any kind of trouble.”.

“There is a lack of coordination between the Chief Minister [Manohar Lal Khattar] and the Home Minister [Anil Vij] on the matter. The CM says the police can’t provide security to everybody. The Home Minister says he can’t respond to questions on intelligence inputs. Sometimes, they also say they came to know [about the communal flare-up] only after three hours. In such a situation, the question before the people is: who is responsible for the law and order in the state. The Congress will not allow the BJP-JJP government to play with the lives and properties of the people, and the brotherhood and harmony of the state,” said Udai Bhan.

The situation in Nuh is slowly returning to normalcy, after the district and its neighbouring areas witnessed incidents of violence on July 31. Immediately afterwards, on instructions of the state government, the district administration had begun a demolition drive, razing allegedly illegal structures, some of which were allegedly used by one group to attack the other on July 31.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday issued a stay order on the district administration’s demolition drive. In the last three days, illegal constructions have been removed from 57.5 acres of land at 37 places in the district. Curfew was relaxed in Nuh district from 9 am till 1 pm, today.
