have
been
restored
after
a
brief
outage.
For
nearly
an
hour,
the
app
was
down
for
millions
of
users
in
India
and
worldwide.
Downdetector,
which
tracks
outages
by
collating
status
reports
from
a
number
of
sources,
said
that
as
many
as
16,000
users
had
reported
issues
with
accessing
WhatsApp.

Users
who
were
affected
by
the
outage
were
unable
to
send
or
receive
messages
or
calls.
As
per
the
outage
tracker,
Downdetector,
many
users
started
facing
issues
with
the
WhatsApp
mobile
app
and
web
at
around
01:43
AM
today,
July
20.
The
outage
affected
users
across
the
country,
with
the
majority
of
reports
coming
from
major
cities
such
as
New
Delhi,
Mumbai,
and
Bengaluru.
Multiple
WhatsApp
users
are
flooding
to
Downdetector
and
Twitter
to
complain
about
the
messaging
app
being
down.
The

site
was
flooded
with
some

not
yet
known.
However,

said
that

outage

caused

problem

This
isn’t
the
first
time
that
WhatsApp
has
been
down
in
the
country.
The
last
time
WhatsApp
was
down
was
on
July
14,
2023.
According
to
Downdetector,
the
outage
started
at
around
11:00
AM
IST
and
lasted
for
about
an
hour.
During
this
time,
users
were
unable
to
send
or
receive
messages,
or
access
the
WhatsApp
web
app.
The
cause
of
the
outage
was
not
immediately
known,
but
WhatsApp
later
said
that
it
was
due
to
a
“technical
error.”
