After reports of diarrhoea, civil surgeon writes to GMDA asking for safe drinking water supply

After reports of diarrhoea cases at a residential society in Gurgaon surfaced, a civil surgeon has written to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Area (GMDA) CEO requesting for the supply of safe drinking water.

The letter dated Wednesday stated that diarrhoea cases were reported from three towers of Orris Carnation Residency in Sector 85 and a mail was sent by the RWA requesting water sampling. “Five water samples were taken for water bacteriological lab test from society on July 16.07.2023. In the water bacteriological lab test, all five samples were found unfit for human consumption,” the letter stated.

Stating that the water is the most essential source for the transmission of water-borne diseases, the civil surgeon requested the CEO to direct staff to take all necessary precautions for ensuring safe drinking water. “It is also requested to direct staff concerned to regular check and repair of leakages in water lines to avoid mixing of dirty/contaminated water in water supply,” it said.

The GMDA spokesperson said that the matter has been brought to their notice and the team will look into it.
